What to Expect
Underlying Sweetness
Balanced Acidity
Delicate Body
Nuanced Balance
This absolutely incredible lot of gesha delivers a surprising amount of sweetness to compliment the floral note geshas are so famous for. These beans have an acidic presence to them, but it is not overwhelming and is more of a compliment to the fruted notes like white peach and grape.
Full Range of Experiences
This cup absolutely transforms as it cools. At the start of the cup, a slight cinnamon spice comes through as an interesting expression of the floral notes. As the temperature falls, so does that spice flavor, giving way to a much more complex combination of light fruited sweetness and delicate florals, all elevated, almost seasoned, by the aforementioned acidity.
This cup is truly a beautiful balance of flavors in a roast that is still very approachable to most coffee drinkers.
Buesaco & Don Fernando
High up in the northern Nariño region of Colombia, you'll find Buesaco, a little town sitting right on top of a ~2,000 meter mountain ridge. The main street through town is super lively, packed with vendors, restaurants, and coffee buyers all competing for the best beans. That competition actually helps local farmers get better prices for their hard work, which is awesome to see.
Just outside of town at 2,050 meters is Finca Bella Vista, run by a farmer named Don Fernando. Thanks to the high elevation and great growing conditions, he grows some incredible varieties here, including this lot of Gesha. Buesaco has a reputation for amazing coffee, and Don Fernando’s farm definitely lives up to it.
